The image is a photo of a grand looking country primary school with four pitches to the roof and at least two chimneys. There are windows in groups of two’s and three’s. In front of the school are approximately 50 children dressed in olden day clothes and they are looking toward the camera. Some of the boys hold spades and rakes. The children are not in formation and have been working to establish the gardens. On either side of the photo are teachers or other adults.

There are many benefits to becoming a member of a family history group, either in the area you live or where your research interests lie. Family History groups provide access to local, national and international records and information, but more importantly advice and assistance in how to go about researching your family history. Many people don't know where to start but a few quick hints and a demonstration of how to find information is usually all that is needed to get them enthused.

The SEFHG can assist with access to family history information from across the globe. Our modest membership rates give you access to all physical and digital records we hold. Membership includes access to excursions, our general meetings with guest speakers, the quarterly newsletter and monthly eNews. Members receive two hours free research each year which is conducted on their behalf. Membership information and forms are available on our MEMBERSHIP page.

The SEFHG resource centre is housed in part of Millicent’s former primary school built in 1909 and opened January 1910 with Mr E.W. Skitch as headmaster. The school won awards for its beautiful gardens and in the photo above we see the children making preparations to achieve this honour. Organisations or social groups are welcome to visit the resource centre for an outing. Please contact a committee member for an information pack or to make arrangements to visit.
